from 45 reviewsI started these in peat pots in a mini-greenhouse on March 9th. They were under grow lights until about late May(zone 6A here) and then brought outside. Interplanted with them are two green bean plants, so basically, eggplant, bean, eggplant, bean. The summers get hot here so the bean leaves do provide shelter. The beans also add nitrogen to the soil. Take your time growing these, don’t overthink or overplant. Like tomatoes, you need to pinch back the ‘suckers’ so the plants will focus on producing fruit instead of leaves.
I'm a first time gardener and I haven’t had any problems with these seeds, wonderful variety!!
We put a few of these into an empty egg carton and put a little bit of potting soil and used coffee grounds. Cute little seedlings two weeks later. Transplanted to a raised garden bed, and then six more weeks later - big giant juicy luscious leaves. My six-year-old ate almost an entire head in one sitting. Waiting to see how the regrowth goes on the ones that we pruned but safe to say we will be planting more.
I planted seeds in my Aerogarden. I was only able to get germination using the soak in water & wet paper towel method for 48hours before planting. Most germinated well. It’s definitely a nice kind of seeds to get going so I understand the higher reviews. Just do your research first to help if your new at it.
I sprinkled these seeds all over the place, in pots, in the yard - gently covered with a little soil, watered and walked away. They're growing like CRAZY!!! This is such a special flower for me and my kids. I'm excited to see them grow bigger.
This is my first year growing cosmos and I’m in love! We just tossed the seeds along our garden fence and they are thriving with very little care. They are as tall as I am in some spots (5’5) and the bees and butterflies love them! Will purchase again :)
I spread these seeds on top of mulch, watered them in, kept watering them every day, and they have produced beautiful borders around my veggie gardens, hopefully deterring bugs from eating the plants.
I saw reviews and was hesitant but gave it a shot. I planted along the side of our house in a sunny area. I did add blood meal to the soil when planting but my row all came up. I normally would say thin this but the wild live do this for me. Will definitely be purchasing more. I also do water daily if it's not raining, sunflowers only like dry soil once they have grown a few feet tall.
Took some patient care and attention, but eventually one plant sprouted and produced marvelous basil leaves. Check various sources for planting times of year and for instructions on how to trim and you should achieve satisfactory results.
They love the sun! I ordered one pack of these seads and I swear every last one of them sprouted up. The more sun you give them the better.
45 successfully germinated so far! I just planted them in soil and it’s up to me from here! Patience was key throughout this process. See the details below to understand why. For my zone (6a) it’s not a simple sprinkle and grow type of seed. I started Step 1 on 12/27/2023. The photos in the UV tray were taken 2/9/24 (6 weeks later)The Process:1. Gather Materials. (Paper plate, paper towel, ziplock bag, tweezers, clean water (distilled/filtered/I used reverse osmosis water)2. Put a piece of paper towel folded in half on a paper plate. (Neatly folded & laying flat)3. Get it very wet. (Not water logged and floating, but soaking wet is good)4. Sprinkle seeds evenly onto the wet paper towel.5. Using tweezers, separate any seeds that are stuck together or too close. (They need room to grow)6. While keeping everything flat, carefully slide the plate and its contents into the ziploc bag.7. Still keeping flat, place the bag into the fridge and leave it for 4-6 weeks (mine were in the fridge for 4 weeks)8. After recommended timeframe, pull out of the fridge and leave near a sunny window for 7-14 days.9. Wait for germination to transfer (CAREFULLY) to peet moss/ starter soil. (My seeds only took 7 days to get to 50% germination. I decided to wait an additional 7 days and got 90% germination!!!!)10. When ready to transfer to soil, carefully remove seedlings from paper towel, (They are extremely delicate) and plant in soil.**I put them in a seedling tray with a built in UV light. I spray them every couple days with a spritzer bottle of clean water. Will try to update again when they are to the next stage!
Hey y’all, Seed Needs has become my go-to source! I have my first garden this year and wanted seeds that are dependable and this set fit my needs. As one can see by my photos, the sages are growing successfully. It smells amazing and I am using my first cutting on a pizza tonight. The seeds sprouted sooner than promised on the package and have been easy to grow, helping my rookie gardener confidence.
I thought I couldn't grown peppers after a different company's seeds did not germinate AT ALL. That was not the case with these. I had so many seedlings and I have 30 paper plants in my backyard now.
Planted these in May in ac infinity fabric pots. They grew to about 4 or 5 feet and produced a large amount of tomatoes. It’s October 1st and still has tomatoes growing. I did use Fox Farms liquid fertilizer in the beginning stages.
I used 4 seed each in 5 aerogarden sponge pods. Sprouts were strong in all of them after about two weeks, and they are still growing nicely.
About Seeds FAQs
Where do our seeds come from?
We obtain our seed from reputable and sustainable farmers throughout the nation. Each variety is tested for acceptable germination before being sold, and periodically after that.
When is the best time to sow seeds?
The ideal sowing time depends on the specific plant species and local climate conditions. Generally, follow the planting guidelines for each plant to achieve the best results.
Do seeds require pre-germination treatment?
Some seeds may benefit from special treatments (such as soaking, chilling, or scarification) to facilitate germination. Refer to planting guides for specific recommendations.
Is it safe to use plant nutrients and growth agents?
Most plant growth agents are safe when used at recommended dosages, but it is crucial to follow product instructions and avoid overuse. For organic or chemical plant growth agents, it is advisable to conduct a small-scale test first to ensure they do not have adverse effects on plants.
What are the benefits of using plant growth agents?
Plant growth agents can promote plant growth, increase yields, enhance disease resistance and adaptability, and improve overall plant health.
How should harvested seeds be stored after harvesting?
After harvesting, ensure that the seeds are thoroughly dry before storing them in a dry, well-ventilated container. Label the seeds with the variety and date for future identification and use.
